Waitress continues despite millions of dollars

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. And a German waitress in Switzerland could now afford a hell of a lot of that. If she wanted it at all. But she doesn’t want to. In October 2018, the woman won an incredible 184 million Swiss francs – the equivalent of 170 million euros – with a ticket worth 24.50 francs in the “EuroMillions” lottery. Now she talked for the first time about her life after winning the jackpot and what the million dollar win did to her – namely nothing: “Oh, I continue to live normally and still work three days a week”. In the same place where she has been working since 2001.

Waitress wins several million

The German waitress lives with her husband and two dogs in the 2,100-strong community of Leuggern in the Swiss canton of Aargau. This is in the north of the Alpine Republic and borders on Germany. The only luxury she had given herself was a BMW for her husband and the building of a new house. Otherwise she actually didn’t spend or distribute money. So not directly. Indirectly, because the tax burden in the Swiss canton is very high for the Alpine conditions. There are other cantons in which it would be much cheaper to live. But she doesn’t want to move. And so the residents of Leuggern are happy about an unexpected blessing of money. They received CHF 23.7 million in taxes alone from the millions in profits. And this has meant a 10% tax cut for residents for a few weeks, it has just been decided by the local council. Some of their regulars know about it but continue to tip. Otherwise, the 48-year-old lady prefers to remain anonymous. A very sensible decision that any lottery consultant could congratulate her on. Otherwise there would certainly be a lot of “new” friends, old acquaintances and many poor people who should be helped. As she says herself: “Imagine what would be going on here if everyone knew where I work?” Otherwise there would certainly be a lot of “new” friends, old acquaintances and many poor people who should be helped. As she says herself: “Imagine what would be going on here if everyone knew where I work?” Otherwise there would certainly be a lot of “new” friends, old acquaintances and many poor people who should be helped. As she says herself: “Imagine what would be going on here if everyone knew where I work?”

What is “EuroMillions”?

And what happens when you hit the jackpot? The CHF 184 million were transferred very quickly, she explains. “I had previously opened several bank accounts. Because it’s better if you don’t have so much money in just one account. ”

Well, at least everything seems to have gone well with “EuroMillions”. “EuroMillions” is an association or cooperation of some national lotteries and has been played in ten European countries since 2004. Unfortunately not in Germany or only online, but for example in Austria and Switzerland. On the ticket you have to check five numbers between 1 and 50 and two star numbers between 1 and 12. The winning numbers are determined every Tuesday and Friday in Paris. Up to 190 million euros can be won and the minimum jackpot is 17 million. By the way, most jackpot winners can be found in Portugal. Known for football, wine and beaches, there is an above-average number of winners, based on the total number of lottery participants. In addition to Austria, Switzerland and Portugal, they also play in France, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg. Incidentally, the most popular is the lottery in the UK, which accounts for 35% of all lottery ticket sales.

This is different with “EuroMillions”

It is not only the amount of the win that distinguishes “EuroMillions” from other super lotteries, such as the American Powerball, but also the win rate, which is 1:13, which is much higher than in the United States. Another special feature is the immediate full payment. In the USA, for example, a player who hit the jackpot has to choose between paying out the total amount – which is greatly reduced by tax payments – or paying an annuity. The total winnings are divided into 30 annual installments. The winnings from the “EuroMillions” lottery are taxed in the country in which they were won. In Germany, for example, this would mean tax exemption for one year. A playing field on the ticket is three euros, which is quite cheap compared to other lotteries. The main prize is 1 in 139,838,160. The most frequently drawn numbers are the 44, 50, 23, 17, 19, and the 26. As additional profit draws there are also “SuperMillions” super draws, where the amount of the jackpot, no matter how high it is at the time of the draw , is increased to 130 million euros. The draws always take place on special occasions and the next draw this year is on February 7th. Last June, an English player single-handedly cleared the jackpot and won € 139 million. where the amount of the jackpot, no matter how high it is at the time of drawing, is increased to 130 million euros. The draws always take place on special occasions and the next draw this year is on February 7th. Last June, an English player single-handedly cleared the jackpot and won € 139 million. where the amount of the jackpot, no matter how high it is at the time of drawing, is increased to 130 million euros. The draws always take place on special occasions and the next draw this year is on February 7th. Last June, an English player single-handedly cleared the jackpot and won € 139 million.

But if you would like to have higher chances of winning and maybe settle for a slightly smaller win, you can of course try your luck in one of the reputable online casinos. You don’t have to wait for the next draw, but learn about your luck. This is also a variant that is definitely a lot of fun and can be enjoyed comfortably from home.
